“En: La Sociedad de la Nieve” is an editorial project that reflects, in a personal manner and through imagery, on the film shooting of the movie La Sociedad de la Nieve, directed by Juan Antonio Bayona and inspired by the homonymous book by Pablo Vierci, which narrates the accident of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which occurred on October 13, 1972. The film was produced by Belén Atienza, Sandra Hermida, and Juan Antonio Bayona for the streaming platform Netflix.

“En: La Sociedad de la Nieve” escapes definition and challenges categories. Is it a “book of a movie”? A reconstruction? A deconstruction? An allegory of the fragility of truth and memory? A post- documentary? An act of historical redemption or catharsis, a work of fiction, or a detective story?

In an era where there are no fixed ways to represent reality or know the past, “En: La Sociedad de la Nieve” traverses its own unique path through confusion to present a rich challenge to the viewer.
