What is the Contemporary Analog Photography?
Contemporary analog photography refers to the field of photographic practice that uses traditional chemical processes within the context of current artistic creation.
Although digital photography has become dominant over the past decades, many artists have continued working with photographic film and with alternative or historical processes, such as wet plate collodion, for example.
These techniques offer specific material and aesthetic qualities that cannot be reproduced with digital processes. For this reason, many contemporary artists have revived or reinterpreted these procedures as part of their creative language.
Contemporary analog photography is not simply a continuation of traditional photography, but a space for experimentation where historical techniques are combined with current artistic practices.
Festivals, laboratories, and communities of photographers around the world have contributed to revitalizing this field, creating an international network dedicated to the exploration of chemical and artisanal photographic processes.
The Revela’t festival is part of this cultural ecosystem, offering a platform where artists and the public can discover and share projects that use analog photography as a means of contemporary expression.
