Contemporary Chemical Photography

This workshop begins with a four-hour theoretical session. We will examine the most important contemporary artists working with historical processes, focusing on the projects that are most useful for understanding how and why to incorporate these techniques into our own work. We will explore the history of photography through its processes, linking them to contemporary projects that use the same techniques in completely different ways and with entirely different aims.
The following day, on Saturday, we will hold an open portfolio review throughout the day (8 hours) for all participants who wish to present their work.

Joaquín Paredes is a renowned photographer specialising in historical photographic processes.
He has participated in Encontros de Artistas Novos 2018 (Santiago de Compostela) and OpenPhoto (Seville). He is co-director of the Revela-T residency for creation and experimentation. His work has been exhibited at the Panoràmic Festival (curated by Joan Fontcuberta and Rebecca Mutell), the Gallerie Nazionali d’Arte Antica (Palazzo Barberini, Rome), the Istituto Centrale per il Catalogo e la Documentazione (ICCD, Rome), the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando (Madrid), Segovia Foto, PHES, Cáceres de Foto, Photo Patagonia (Argentina), in Timișoara (Romania) and, of course, at Revela-T.
He combines his personal projects with teaching through workshops and lectures for institutions including the IPCE, the Science Museum in London, the CDIS (Santander), the Spanish Academy in Rome, the ICCD (Italy), the University of Barcelona, the University of Seville, the University of Navarra Museum (MUN), the San Telmo Museum (San Sebastián) and La Babuch (France).
