Drawing on real-life stories from his family and social circle, a narrative is woven about a part of Galicia bordering northern Portugal, where reality and legend become intertwined.

Toni, his uncle, dreamt of a girlfriend who did not exist; Emilio, his father, died of alcoholism; Adolfo and Raúl, his friends, saw their house burn down (real events that underpin the project).

Escape here takes the form of fantasy and invented storytelling, a refuge from an environment that is irrevocably deteriorating. With no distance between the artist and his subject, the work portrays a region where the landscape and its people share the same process of decay, and where imagining another life is, in itself, a way of surviving this one.
