L ́esvaiment i el rastre

The photogram and the chemigram bring you closer to the magical and surprising. It is a process of learning, of making you take a step back, sometimes, and feel that those emotions in the discoveries fade away, like silver in the buckets, like time, like a delirium that no longer bewitches. It is a long itinerary, and at the end of the day, personal and perhaps epidermal of the landscape. The discovery of these imaginary landscapes brings him closer to the sublime that he seeks when he contemplates something in silence.

It is the main force that drives him to follow one after the other, the inquiry without limits… And how did this journey begin? In a space, an invented space. Tailor-made, for the sake of delight. A space always silent, at first forceful and magical at the same time. We think of the limits of space, so categorical that they make us suffer. Let us think of this space, so heterogeneous that it bewitches us.

These landscapes are for him, the memory of dreams, a memory sometimes folded, but powerful, others faded and cowardly, like time, how much it flees, or the limits when they fade. The receptions of each of them are like notes of a score. They all sound good together, if they are in tune.

Converses amb la mort

Society often uses euphemisms to sweeten realities. In the case of death they say that we turn to dust. The fact is that not much dust comes out of a corpse of any being, be it a flower, a dog, a toad, a butterfly, a sea bass, a human…. This photographic series is an allegory of physical death.

By means of objects that have been abandoned, forgotten in warehouses without any care, in which the inexorable passage of time has damaged their primitive beauty, the remains found inside the tombs have been represented. As if it were a small theater, the compositions made with these objects that have lost their capacity of seduction and only a shadow of what they were, evoke the detritus, final and natural condition of any living being.

Maribel Mata

She combines artistic creation and personal projects with teaching. She is a teacher and coordinator at the Espai de fotografia F. Català-Roca.

In addition to working on intimate and everyday photography, a constant in her work is the use of the photogram and chemigram to talk about the landscape and its construction. He likes to experiment with these techniques that allow him to simplify concepts such as silence, the poetics of space or the everyday, always from the surprise and the unexpected that characterize both techniques and that also allows him to obtain abstract images of great simplicity and plastic beauty.

Jaume Buxeda

He started in photography at the age of twenty-two. In 1983 he obtained a diploma from the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya. During this period he attended several seminars with different photographers such as Manolo Laguillo, Fernando Herraez, América Sánchez, Toni Catany…

He has made different works of author photography and has participated in numerous exhibitions in galleries in Catalonia, Spain and abroad as Galería Portokalenia (Valencia), Galería Dato (Vilanova i la Geltrú), Galería Trespeus (Vic), Centro Cultural San Martín (Buenos Aires), Sonimagfoto (Barcelona), Galería il Mondo (Barcelona), Centro Cultural Tafalla Kuturgunea… His photographs are in numerous private collections and in the Col∙lecció Nacional de Fotografia de Catalunya.
