3D PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP, with ÓSCAR LASER

Friday 24th September 16.00 h – 20.00 h

Location: Museu Arxiu, Vilassar de Dalt

Stereoscopy, stereographic image, or 3D image, is any technique capable of collecting visual information and displaying it by looking for the illusion of depth in an image.

The simplest way to create depth perception in the brain is to provide the viewer’s eyes with two different images, representing two perspectives of the same object, with a small deviation similar to the perspectives that the eyes naturally receive in the brain.

In this way, our brain interprets them as a single one producing a three-dimensional sensation, that is, adding depth to conventional 2D images.

Stereoscopy, apart from entertainment, has other applications in fields such as science, medicine, cartography or astronomy.

In this workshop, we will see different techniques and learn how to use them and edit images with current editing programs.

ÓSCAR LASER AND HIS CAREER

Óscar Laser (1954) is director since 1987 of the Aula d’Especialització Fotogràfica,  one of the most prestigious photography schools in Barcelona.

Being an expert in stereoscopy, he patented in 2007 together with Mayte Francín a stereoscopic viewer that allows the visualization of analog slide walls with an excellent quality.

His knowledge of professional lighting, image editing and his fondness for 3D have resulted in his own unique exhibitions.

THE WORKSHOP

Óscar Laser presents us in this workshop different tecniques and formats for the 3D imatge creation.

FRIDAY 24th Sep: 16.00 h – 20.00 h

During this 4 hour workshop we will see the different types of cameras and viewers that have been used in stereoscopy since the 19th century, and we will learn to make with current edition mechanisms all the visual formats

For the photo edition with current programs, we will carry out:

  1. Anaglyphs to be displayed with red and cyan glasses.
  2. Parallel pairs to be viewed without glasses.
  3. Compressed pairs to be viewed in polarized projections or with special televisions.

Participants in this workshop who wish to see the result immediately after the workshop can bring a digital camera. Participants who have 3D cameras or two exactly the same cameras can also bring them.

Participants in this workshop will be presented with a collection of 3D viewers patented by Aula d’Especialització Fotogràfica.
