Exodus is a project on the traces of “forgotten people” that explores, between photography and image documents, the notions of memory, habitation and exile. Through the archives – and the life story of Mirja, the family from where they were forced into exile – Exodus appears as documentation of the territories devastated by war in the winter of 1939.

Based on Mirja’s stories, I try to translate a crossing, a devastated past through my own feelings. I question the memory of a time, places and people that I have encountered. This project is like a search, a personal question about the exiled past of my ancestors.
