Solovki, exhibition of photographs

A project by Juan Manuel Castro Prieto and Rafael Trapiello curated by Alicia Ventura.

Solovki is how the Solovetsky archipelago in the middle of the White Sea is known in Russia. The mother of the Gulags, Solovki served as a model for all the prisons that would follow.

An island in the middle of the White Sea, where only a weekly plane, if weather conditions allow, connects the small archipelago with the mainland.

The authors wanted to visually explore this territory looking for the relationship between hell and paradise that defines it, using a narrative style closer to poetry than to documentary.

The authors will be present at the festival and will offer a presentation at the Warm Up Day. Don’t you miss it!
