Zoocosis, by Estela de Castro

A Zoo is that prison where hundreds of animals are caged just to be exhibited and earn money from them. They try to justify its existence with the conservation and study of the species.

Jails where all kinds of animals are “exhibited” so kids can watch them, fooling them into thinking that they are happy.

Just visiting a zoo once is enough to realise that inside them freedom is the greatest absence. This makes the animals develop stereotypical and repetitive behaviours due to stress, loneliness and apathy, giving them a syndrome called Zoochosis.

Since the age of 12 photography has ruled her life. Her main interest is the human being. Her main project is to take portraits of all the great Spanish photographers.
