There are different rules to define a portrait, such as the need to identify the subject, physically or psychologically, through the dominant presence of their look... The bond between model and portrait becomes sacred, it allows us to recognize them and their look allows us to know their soul.
The artists have used this to violate this rule. The subject’s identity is denied, which goes against the purpose of the portrait. The portrait, again in front of us, completely free of any responsibility, because without eyes, without the possibility of identification, we don't have to confront it, it poses other questions..
Tagomago Collectors Project (TCP) is born out of the desire of ex-gallerists and collectors Valérie de Marotte and Vicenç Boned to build and manage a contemporary collection not merely on the level of contents but also on the level of mission, approach and function.
