Stream of Gold, of Magdalene Wanderlust
Glasgow, United Kingdom
The main inspiration for my sense of visual perception for this series of images was the Surrealist Movement. This photographic journey taught me through a deep spectrum of dark things which were mostly developed in the period of convulsive beauty, hallucinatory dreams and the process of psychoanalysis.
I used gold ink at the top of the image surface. This intervention provides an additional dimension and is a nod to the surface breakage as exemplified by surrealist artists.
The medium of painting give me a freedom of expression that contests the photographic surface. The Stream of Gold project consist of a series of 14 darkroom prints over painted with gold ink 22 cm x 22 cm (I have choosen 6 for submission).
Images feature a figure interacting with objects, often obscured by movement and long exposure. I am to place the viewer in the position of the observer of a theatrical event. The intervention on the surface of the picture allude to the dark recesses of the unconscious.
