Photographer, editorial designer and co-editor of the project Bside Books *
I’m interested in photography as a way to recognize individual and community experiences in the places we live. This is a kind of both mirror and sociological analysis. It is a tool that allows me to recognize (more than represent ) the changes in the physical environment at the north outskirts of Barcelona, the place where I was born, where I live and their changes in a period of post-industrial & residential transition.
I worked on photography about the use of leisure time and its relationship with the region through various print formats, searching for the limits of visual language, concept and format in the industrial printing media. I showed this work in Spain, Britain, France, Italy, Argentina, Costa Rica and the United States. I was contracted by the National Centre for Visual Arts in Paris (CNAP) to create an imaginary postcard about the city of Toulouse. In 2005 I exhibited at PhotoEspaña Sport places . In 2012 I published the book Agroperifèrics exposed to MNCARS, Le Bal (Paris) and Reencontres d’Arles. I prepare, together with Marta Dahó, a co-production for exhibition for the Museum of Rural Life (Catalonia) and the Centro Huarte (Navarra). I also prepare a new curatorial/editorial project with Román Yñán.
I currently combine my professional work as a consultant and designer editorial with visual authoring curatorial projects.
*BSIDE BOOKS (Self Produced & Limited Editions)
Bside Books (Self Produced & Limited Editions) is an independent editorial project whose philosophy is to be a platform for the self-production of limited editions and books related to urban mobility and the interpretation of the territory produced and transformed by these movements.
Created by Carlos Albalá & Ignasi López, Bside Books explores different and carefully curated ways of materializing the work of artists in the world of printed publication.
